Happy Birthday Mimi!

Today is Mimi's 70th birthday! Yes, I know, my grandmother is incredibly young... Anyway, we celebrated this magnificent woman in style. We knew we couldn't pull off a total surprise party, but we did surprise her. You see, in my family, we have a birthday every 20 minutes and we alllllways get together on birthdays. So, she knew we were having dinner but she had no idea that we were going all out. We decorated like crazy (we usually only decorate for holidays and the kids' parties) and invited all of her friends from work, Jerry & My Ann, and of course Aunt Joyce and Uncle Royce (Papa's sister and her husband). We had a hard time keeping her from coming to help get stuff ready...even for her own party! Poor Aunt Kathleen had to tell a little white lie to keep Mimi at home. Anyone who knows my Aunt Kathleen, knows that she absolutely cannot tell a lie...seriously, she absolutely cannot. It's hilarious..she gets this look on her face like a kid caught with her hand in the cookie jar. She smiles real big and trys so hard not to laugh. So so funny! Luckily, she got to lie over the phone so it wasn't too oobvious that she was, and it worked! So, once everyone got there, Aunt Kathleen called and told Mimi that she was home if she wanted to go ahead and come over. As she was pulling into the driveway, I thought "what are we saying when she walks in!?" So, we debated for a couple of seconds and finally just decided on Happy Birthday. Jake came in first and was totally shocked haha it was funny. Then we see Mimi getting a table and chairs out of the car, so my cousin went out to help her. She was soooo surprised when she came in (even with all the cars there). It was great. We had a great big feast of yummy mexican food, lots of wine & conversation, laughter & tears, presents, and of course YUMMY cake! It was a fun time had by all celebrating the life of the most magnificent woman in the world!
