So, I've always assumed that if something is "organic" it's healthier and probably tastes like crap. So, I generally tend to stay away from anything with "organic" on the label. Makes sense, right?
Well, since the little brat at the donut shop asked me if I had a baby in my belly, I've been trying to make somewhat healthier decisions...you know like, not going to the donut shop to get the best croissants in the world...instead I make muffins at home or eat my All Bran with Yogurt Bites (ok, and let's not forget the occassional (ok more than occasional) bowl of Cocoa Pebbles)...STOP JUDGING ME!
Anyway, I've also been eating my Weight Watchers meals at lunch. I haven't really noticed any difference whatsoever, but oh well. Anyway, back to the point of this post (i'm swear i'm so a.d.d.)
I was at work doing my usual surf the web for as long as possible before actually working routine, when I found this article about organic foods. Boy was I surprised to find out "No conclusive evidence shows that organic food is more nutritious than is conventionally grown food. And the USDA — even though it certifies organic food — doesn't claim that these products are safer or more nutritious." Well, that's a load off my back! Now I don't have to feel guilty for not wanting to spend $524696851 on a box of Organic Rice Crispies and can stick to my $1.89 box of plain ol' Snap Crackle & Pop. Sure, I'm probably hurting the environment by not buying organic - "The word "organic" refers to the way farmers grow and process agricultural products, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products and meat. Organic farming practices are designed to encourage soil and water conservation and reduce pollution. Farmers who grow organic produce and meat don't use conventional methods to fertilize, control weeds or prevent livestock disease. For example, rather than using chemical weedkillers, organic farmers conduct sophisticated crop rotations and spread mulch or manure to keep weeds at bay."- but you know what? I just paid $300 getting a brand new catyltic converter put on my Jeep, so I say the environment and I are even...for now...well, except for maybe that styrafoam cup i threw out the window at 60 mph just to see it explode...
ok FINE! I'll go recycle something! STOP JUDGING ME!!!
