so, i'm logging out of yahoo and am about to close out the screen when I notice one of the Yahoo Headlines: Abilene Christian University in Texas to give all incoming Freshman an IPhone. WHAT. THE. FUCK? For those of you who don't know, I have been a student at Almost Christian University for 5 years now. Yes, 5. OK, so I don't go there anymore, but I was a student there for FIVE effing years! And what did I get from them? $65,000 in student loans, a broken tailbone, and a quick shove out the door.
And now they're giving fucking IPhones and IPods to all incoming Fish?! Do they not realize how many of their Fish DON'T return after the first semester or two!? Do they not find it completely and udderly unfair to everyone else that has practically signed over their first born to go there?
OK OK, so I'm not a fan of MAC, or Cingular, or Ipods, or IPhones. But, I could have totally sold those bitches on EBay! And what is this about Homework alerts? You don't get homework alerts in college! It's called a Syllabus! Maybe if I had gotten homework alerts I would have a stupid piece of paper to go with my incredibly large debt.
Bastards...
i'm going back to bed

I just read that article as well. J and I are both ACU alumni. I think giving iPhones to freshmen is a bit much, and will probably be more of a distraction, but that's just an opinion. (The year I graduated, they were adding wireless laptops in the library - with security of course.)
Here's the kicker, all the upgrades and improvements while J and I were there came from tuition that increased EVERY YEAR.
It's a private school, so it doesn't get tax money like state schools do. The students/parents and benefactor donations help pay for technology and other updates to the campus.
Even though I'm still paying through the nose on my loans, I still think it was a good school.
I wonder how many kids already have them!
BTW, I live near Austin.
