Yeah, guess where I'm going Tuesday! Monday night I didn't get a wink of sleep because my mouth was suddenly incredibly painful! I can tolerate pain fairly well, but this was so bad I was crying my eyes out! I seriously was about to have Pat take me to the emergency room. The only reason i didn't was because I figured it probably costs $900 to have a tooth pulled in the e.r. & I thought I was probably being a bit irrational wanting it taken out. So, I toughed it out until my dentist's office opened. They said they could get me in at 12:30, but that Gary (my dentist) could only examine me and take x-rays. Umm Hi! How the heck was that going to help my stinkin tooth!? So, I called around and found a dentist my mom used in the past and they could get me in at 9 that morning and said he could do whatever needed to be done to the tooth then. For the first (and probably only) time in my life, I was excited to go to the dentist! So when I went he asked me which tooth was giving me trouble. I didn't know because the entire right side of my face was swollen and throbbing. So, he started tapping my teeth and I nearly flew out of my chair when he tapped one on the top. I have an absessed tooth. Damnitt! So that means, root canal - double damnitt! Luckily this doc was really cool and could tell I was less than thrilled to make the decision to have a root canal right then. So, he said "tell you what, I'll give you a prescription for an antibiotic, a pain killer, and valium. Finish the anitbiotics and take the pain killers whenever you need them. We'll make an appointment for next week, take the valium an hour before you come and we'll just pull that tooth." OK, can I just tell you I LOVE this guy!? I rarely go to the dentist because I'm cursed with bad teeth (the 5 root canals i've had all ended
in the tooth being pulled) and always have to have something major done when I go. I know it's important, but I seriously have an anxiety attack sitting in that chair while drills are digging into my teeth and ice cold water is hitting every nerve in my mouth. I loved getting my wisdom teeth out - they knocked me out for it! I can handle that kind of dentistry...I might go every 6 months like I'm supposed to if they'll sedate me! Anyway, I'm not so happy about having to have a tooth pulled, but at least I will be OUT while he does it! I should have him fix them all while he's in there!

Wow...never thought i would write about my teeth! Now, I am going to go take my medicine and my Darvocet *grrrrrreat stuff by the way* and get some sleep. I just wish the swelling on the right side of my face would freakin go down!
