JAKE! the absolute love of my life. my 4 1/2 year old nephew. there aren't enough words to describe this precious child. I was blessed with the opportunity to watch him come into this world. He NEVER fails to put a smile on my face and on my heart...oh how i adore him!
Jerrel - my daddy. my fantastic, wonderful, sweet, precious, talented, giving, fantabulous Daddy. He is a singer and never fails to bring tears to my eyes when he sings certain songs: "The Lord's Prayer" (absolutely AMAZING), "the star spangled banner" (i'm not exactly patriotic, and he is the only person that can make me cry during it), "Amazing Grace," "That Does It" (which he sang to my mother at her office on their anniversary...oh alright, pretty much anything he sings acapella makes me cry. Also, anytime I hear "Unforgettable" I think of him because we sang it together my senior year of high school....
Jo Ella - my almost 91 year old great-grandmother. growing up, i spent most of my free time with her. she picked me up everyday from kindergarten. she tickled my back to put me to sleep. if i wanted it, she generally made sure i got it. she took me to see the first showing of The Little Mermaid the day it came out in theaters. we went back the next day. She also had it waiting on me when I woke up the day it came out on video. I watched it repeatedly for 2 days straight. I still know all the words. looking back, the woman let me get away with murder. but that's not why i love her so much. i love her because she always looked out for me. she always has a hug, a kiss, and a smile for me. she taught me the importance of family....she is number 10 of 11 children. when i talk about my family reunions, it's the generations of those 11 children that have been getting together every year for over 100 years.
ok...now i've gotta think about 7 more things that start with a J that I heart...hmmm
JESSICA! Well, I don't guess I know her well enough to say that I love her (and i don't want her to think i'm like stalking her), but her blog is one of my absolute favorite things in the world. i read it daily. and generally laugh my ass off. i am totally envious of her madd photoshopin skillz
Jack in The Box. I know, it's a grease pit. But, I love love love their tacos! Friend introduced me to the phenomenon that is Jack in the Crack Tacos...Luckily the nearest one is 2 hours away (exit 409 on I20...thanks, Friend) so i don't eat them on a regular basis....
that's FIVE! just FIVE more to go...sheesh this is harder than I thought...
Johnny Cash. Duh Biddy! I absolutely love me some Johnny Cash (and his wife June). And i loved johnny cash as a tiny tot. i didn't just suddenly realize his awesomeness when the movie came out. i knew he was the sh*t when i was still in diapers!
Jokes and humor. I know, that's kinda lame, but hear me out. I love love love to laugh. Humor is very important to me. probably because my wonderful Papa was the funniest man I've ever known. The man could bring tears to my eyes and my sides hurt for days from laughing so hard.
Johnson, Ann. Yeah, I cheated on that one a lil bit. This is my Ann. She is Mimi's best friend and a second grandmother to me. OK, so I have like 4389734687 adopted "grandmothers" but she is the first one to take me under her wing. She is beautiful. She is almost full blood Cherokee and very proud of it. Her birth name is Wytena. She has a great sense of humor, and began teaching me about the finer things in life at a very early age. For my 10th birthday, she gave me a sterling silver jewelry box. for my 13th birthday, a pearl necklace. She is my "charm school" teacher of sorts. yes, mimi definitely instilled how to be a lady in me, but Ann reinforces it and lets me know when i'm slipping (which reminds me, she told me more than a few months ago I needed a refresher course...hmmm).
ok...two more...i can do this....
Jet Cars. My Uncle Ancel, is known as The Godfather of Jet Car Racing. If you've never seen a Jet Dragster in action, you haven't fully lived. It is a sight, a feeling, to behold. The sheer roar of the jet is a sound you never forget...I have been nearly obsessed with their power since a very early age. My Uncle Ancel died Nov 4, 2005. No, it wasn't a crash, although I think that is how he would have liked to have gone - doing something he loved...something he had been the master
of for over 45 years. Instead, a malignant brain tumor got him. Doesn't that suck? Anyway, I've been googling him because I don't have any pictures of the car or him on my laptop and about 2 hours later i'm back to writing this blog. I didn't realize there was so much about him on the net, but I'm glad there is. Oh how I miss that wonderful man. This was one of my favorite clips about him:"The night finished off with wheelstanders and jets. Normally this is my cue to relax and enjoy the show. Not this time. As I got done shooting the jet in my lane, I stood back to a reasonable distance from the track- about 15 feet and watched them launch. Expecting the usual slow and lumbering launch, I was startled to see Ancel Horton blast off the line with the speed of a top fueler. What, I
wondered, was I looking at here? A peroxide rocket? Wasn't that a jet car a second ago? While I was questioning this sight, I had not realized I was breaking a cardinal rule: never stare downtrack after a jet car.
Before I knew it, a shower of grass, pebbles, corn dog wrappers, and jet fuel had begun to shower the starting line. Just as the car had left incredibly fast, the debris cloud also had arrived much too soon and I got a face full of it. But better than this: Ancel Horton had just run 301 mph, the first time anyone has ever run 300 mph at this track. The crowd went nuts."
and last, but certainly not least, and definitely most importantly....let's give it up for this guy:
So, I guess this turned more into an "7 people and 3 things that start with J" Meme, but it was fun! And now for the even more fun part...TAGGIN FOLKS!
