Look who has her eyes open!

Macie & Mater (not the white schnauzer, one of Chablis' pups) opened their eyes a few days ago. I was seriously concerened because a) Macie was the only one with her eyes open that morning and they were barely 9 days old b)i thought they weren't supposed to open their eyes till they were like 4 weeks c)i've heard horror stories about puppies eyes being forced open too soon and blinding them and d)i think i accidentally hit her little head on the top of the kennel a couple of days before that and thought "oh shit i blinded the damn dog". stop judging me

Anywho, I went next door to get on the internet after calling my mother (like she would know!?). I first went to my blog to see when batch number 1 opened their eyes. They were 13 days old. Macie was born EIGHT hours after her brothers and sister, so she was only like 8 1/2 days old. Worry, again, struck. So I looked it up on google because I didn't think my uncle the vet would appreciate me calling and waking him up...though he wouldn't have said anything because he's sweet like that.

I was relieved to see they open them around day 10. some a bit earlier and some later...some much later. whew.

later that night, Victoria & Chuck came over to play with the puppies (because let's face it, no one comes over to see me...it's all about the pups) and Tori discovered Mater has his eyes open too. So far, they are the only ones. I think they'll be the braniacs of the group.

In case you're wondering the puppies have been named by various people. We have: Macie, Zoe, Mater, Spike, Oreo, and Versace. I wanted to name the 2 girls Lucy & Ethel, but my mom has about decided to keep both of them, so she named them Zoe & Macie. My oldest sister is taking Oreo (named by my niece), my sister's sister (yes you read that right) is taking Versace (named by her daughter), Mr. & Mrs. Kravitz named and are keeping Spike, and then there's poor Mater. I named him that because he is black and white, but has little brown spots on his cheeks and butt (like he's dirty) and it just fit. He doesn't have a home yet...sniff sniff.
